LIVIA

After its inception in 1995, the Laboratory for Imagery, Vision and Artificial Intelligence (LIVIA) has been place of many achievements by its members. The LIVIA team is focused on the visual perception of 2D and 3D images, using artificial intelligence elements.

The scientific orientation is towards image analysis and interpretation, illustrated by studies on modelling, methodologies and applications. Within thi context, four development axes have been developed throught the years - 1) artificial vision, 2) automatic document recogntion, 3) imaging (medical, aerial, etc) and 4) evolutionary algorithms to optimize complex systems.

Since 1995, more than 30 masters dissertations and 15 PhD thesis have been defended by LIVIA members. The graduated students have been integrated in the professional context corresponding to their scientific competences.

Within this period, more than 200 papers (reviews, conferences and workshops) have been presented, and periodical seminars have been organized. This allowed LIVIA to work with outside collaborators, on both national and international levels, our associated members. Other industrial contracts demonstrate the application and usefulness of the researches conducted at LIVIA.

By grouping professors from two departments, most from the Automated Production engineering, we have an environment that allows the exchange of knowlewdge from different domains. The result is that the laboratory is oficially recognized by the École de Technologie Sup&eacuterieure , backing 9 years of research and confirming future projects with our scientific and industrial partners.
